DTS 071 SOUTH AFRICAHIGHLIHTS (7 nights)
Day 1 Thursday
Depart after breakfast for a full day of sightseeing as we travel
along the Drakensberg escarpment. The scenic panorama route takes us to
the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes
and the nostalgic village of Pilgrims Rest, where gold was discovered
in the 1870s,before we continue on our decent down the mountain into the
Lowveld,a sub-tropical paradise of fruit. Indulge in the natures beautyat
the lone Creek waterfall before we continue to our hotel near Hazyview.
Dinner, Overnight and Breakfast at the Winkler Hotel-White River.
Day 2 Friday
Early morning at sunrise we make our way into the world famous
Kruger Park for a full day game drive in search of the wildlife wonders
Africa offers her visitors in this unspoiled land where big game still
roam freely. We might even spot the Big Five(Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo
and Leopard).At sunset we arrive at our rest camp for overnight.(Option
for the night drive) Dinner, overnight and Breakfast at Rest Camp –
Kruger Park.
Day 3 Saturday
Our last opportunity to spot more game before we exit the Kruger
Park.We travel via White River and Nelspruit and return to the plains
of the highveld to arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon. Overnight and
Breakfast and Rosebank Hotel-Johannesburg.
Day 4 Sunday
Morning at leisure to explore the city(optional excursions available).
Afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to Port Elizabeth (not included).
Transfer to your hotel.Overnight and Breakfast at 39 on Church Guest House
– Port Elizabeth
Day 5 Monday
After a short orientation tour of this city influenced by the
1820 British settlers, we continue along this spectacular coast known
as the garden rout along Storms River, through the Tstitsikamma Forest
over the old and scenic Grootrivier Pass and Bloukrans Pass from days
gone by and via Plettenberg Bay,to Knysna. Dinner,Overnight and Breakfast
at Kynsna River Club – Kynsna
Day 6 Tuesday
Depart after breakfast to board the Outeniqua Choo – Tjoe
in George. This original steam train takes you along the spectacular coastline
via the Kaaimans River Bridge and Wilderness to Kynsna. Afternon we embark
on a cruise on the Kynsna Lagoon. Remainder of the day at leisure. Dinner,
Overnight and Breakfast at Kynsna River Club – Kynsna.
Day 7 Wednesday
After breakfast we travel over the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn,
known as the feather capital of the world. We visit the famous Cango Caves
as well as an Ostrich Show Farm and the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Cheetah
Breeding Centre for guided tours. Dinner, Overnight and Breakfast at La
Plume Guest House-Oudtshoorn.
Day 8 Thursday
Depart after breakfast and continue to Mosselbay where we visit
the Maritime Museum and old Post Office Tree. From here we continue to
Swellendam and on to Cape Town to arrive late afternoon where the tour
ends.
